Established in 1983, Maiden Lane is a trusted and vibrant community hub in Camden, delivering free services and activities for people of all ages and backgrounds. We respond to local needs with inclusive programmes that foster connection, learning, and opportunity - helping our community thrive.
Our mission and what we do
We exist to improve the quality of life for residents of Maiden Lane Estate and the wider London Borough of Camden - empowering local people to thrive. Our commitment to excellence in youth work has earned us the London Youth Bronze Award.
We deliver high-impact programmes funded by Camden Council, Young Camden Foundation, John Lyons, and City Bridge Trust. Our Ofsted-rated “Good” nursery supports disadvantaged children aged 2-4, providing vital early years education and care. Meanwhile, our Street Team engages at-risk young people aged 10 and above across Camden - breaking down postcode barriers, building trust, and promoting inclusion.
Operating in one of England’s most deprived areas - where 42.2% of children live in poverty, far above the national average of 31% - we’re working to change the story by creating opportunity and reducing inequality.
Beyond youth work, we support families and older residents through our Cost of Living Partnership: providing hot meals, warm spaces, winter essentials, and coats for children in need. We also run a BME women’s empowerment project, manage a Green Social Enterprise, and operate a Foodbank in partnership with Sainsbury’s. Camden Community Radio and Camden Town Shed are proudly based at our Centre.
