Maiden Lane's Green Social Enterprise was founded in the early 2000’s by local residents and members of the Community Centre Trustees with the co-operation of Camden Council’s social enterprise scheme project.
Trustee Charlie Legg (who sadly passed away in 2019) and Trustee D Sharratt (local resident) both came on board as volunteer Directors to manage the Camden Council contract to maintain the grounds/green areas on Maiden Lane Estate.
The purpose of the social enterprise has been to help raise environmental awareness and provide employment and training opportunities for local young people who learn about landscaping and care for trees, shrubs and green areas.
The project continues to this day and is a great success with many trainees going on to use their transferable skills and confidence built to gain sustainable employment.
