About Us
Maiden Lane Community Centre, established in 1983, sits at the heart of the Maiden Lane Estate - supporting over 700 families in one of the 10% most deprived areas in England. We are a community-led organisation committed to driving positive change and fostering belonging across Camden.
Our services span the entire life course - from early years to older adults - and respond directly to local needs. Our team, led by Director Nazrul Islam, brings over 100 years of combined experience at Maiden Lane. Reflecting the community we serve, 42% of our staff began as beneficiaries, demonstrating our commitment to developing local people into leaders.
Tin Luck, co-produced in 2020, remains a powerful example of how Maiden Lane nurtures local talent and amplifies community voices. Local residents and young people - many of whom are involved in our youth services - played key roles both in front of and behind the camera. Directed by Beatrix Blaise, the film was nominated for Best UK Short Film at the BFI Raindance Film Festival and selected for international festivals in Athens, New York, and Berlin. It continues to stand as a testament to community-led creativity and collaboration.
